These are 2 years in the ground. I'll mow them again and cleth in spring.
These two pics are to block my path around the back of my pond to the quad pod.
These hide a quad pod.

I planted a boat load of tulip bulbs at one of our old homes and those tree rats moved or destroyed a bunch of them. And they don't even eat them.

No they manage to find a thin spot to slip through. But if I filled them in it might discourage it.

I've only sprinkled them in here and there, several years back. Basically just to watch them and see how they grew. In one little spot I think I dibbled them in about 6-8' apart. Need to make a run along the road for about 200 yards. Hopefully this will be the year I don't put it off.
The dibble bar or a shovel works fine but, the older I get the more I rely on mechanical help.
That's in less than prime soils as it's the back berm of our pond, a LOT of clay in the topsoil and pretty solid clay as subsoil.
First year I thought they didn't survive.
I've bought from Maple River in Michigan and usually just go pick them up. Vey happy with their product. Watching them trommmel the rhyzomes is interesting. They do ship.
We go pick up and visit a couple breweries while we're out.

I dont have pics of their operation as I don't think that's proper. It's a well organized working farm business.

I planted about that length by hand with dibble. Whew.
If I did again I would disc three or four times then just walk in a line and push in with my foot after I dropped it.
Also can throw some switchgrass too in area you disced. Will give earlier screen and won’t bother the MG any. MG will pass it by in year 2.

If you say that to the owner of Maple rivers be sure to use the last name. I think the owner of maple rivers first name is Don also
The nice thing about ordering Qty from maple rivers is that are always extra rhizomes above what you order. He counts by weight at a certain point and it’s always in the customers favor

What's the furthest north, or coldest USDA zone any of you have had success with MG? I'm still skeptical it'd work for me.

There is some at University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum outside the Cities that has been there 10 or so years at least.
I'm zone 5a in central Wisconsin. I bought 400 from Maple River and their first winter we hit -30 a couple of nights. I have about 100 left.

Don't do it. My stuff in SE MN got set back severely last winter by that cold snap we had, I think -25°F with no snow cover. Going into the third growing season the stuff got set back to thinner than the first growing season. Firmly in zone 4b
In SW WI, same rhizomes planted same week as the stuff in MN (same order), is 12' tall and thick. Borderline 4b/5a.
I've always sourced from Maple River too, good people.
