Pipsqueak crab

My experience so far with Redfield is excellent. I potted the tree year one and pruned all but one developing apple so I could see what the fruit looked like. The first year in the orchard, the tree put on nice growth but no fruit. The second year in the orchard, it bloomed profusely, and produced a nice crop, which I again pruned hard so it would continue to put on wood in lieu of fruit. This variety has proven to be very hardy and I have seen no indication of any disease so far. It is a true spitter though, so I hope the deer like it because I won’t be taking any home.

I was just out spraying yesterday, wish I saw this post I would have checked in the nursery to see specifically how they are doing (have both)... into their second year, wanted them out this spring and planted but they are still heeled in potted - we have had a lot of rain so even they potted-heeled trees I have are doing well.
