NWSG Planting Questions

Trails everywhere and bedding in there first year. Stood pretty well first year until the last snow where we got 18".

What I cleared was field edges that haven't been planted in a long time. Scrub brush and weeds mostly that has slowly crept out from the timber over time.

No plans to till after the forestry mulcher came thru. I will now spray gly twice about two weeks apart and then broadcast nwsg.

I was thinking about throwing a short lived cover crop out like buckwheat and broadcasting nwsg into that and rolling. Sounds like I don't need the buckwheat so I will just broadcast nwsg in about 2-3 weeks.

Buckwheat is a smother crop if planted at normal rates, I wouldn't advise using that. Oats will work.

I planted the hillside in front of my house in a pollinator mix using oats and broadcasting-
Figured out sq footage, weighed oats for normal planting rates.
Put the oats in a 5 gallon bucket, mist with hose so they're damp but not drenched.
Dump pollinator seeds into bucket and mix well.
Pollinators will stick to the oats and be able to be broadcasted from Solo spreader or similar.
I covered in straw for erosion control but not necessary.
Mow oats before seeds become viable.

You may want to rough up the soil to get a better catch on your seeding, I'd recommend dragging or something similar. Definitely wouldn't till.
