This was the one we had at our old place in Morgan County, Missouri. Treated 4x4 with a 4x6 on top. We added some bracing and ground supports because it saw more use as a swing for the kids than as a deer pole. 356 hit the nail on the head with the weather. We also had a problem with the neighbor's dogs visiting so we rarely hung them overnight. Usually they were only there long enough to get cleaned out and then off to the processor.

This was the one at our lease near Memphis, Mo on a particularly busy weekend. I liked this one because of the "rungs" on the sides that could be climbed up to get a line started. We'd then either get a couple people on the other end of the line to hoist, or use an ATV to do the work while we tied off. This is also a fun one for me because the guy second from the right was my first "decent" buck. He really wasn't that decent because he was a fighter and had broken off everything. I missed him a couple weeks prior to rifle season with my bow when he came in grunting and pissed to no end in response to me rattling. Despite the little basket rack he was about 170 dressed. I'd let him pass these days but he was my first non-spike buck and I was still pissed off from the encounter during bow season.

The deer pole thing was a little foreign to me. We never really called it that. Prior to starting to hunt with my father in law I had never really used one. We just threw a rope over a branch and pulled them up to skin and quarter if we were butchering ourselves. Like Memphis, the climate is a little better to let them hang at our new place so I have a feeling we will get back to it. It's kind of fun to have bragging rights amongst family and friends during the season.
