Mystery Drones - Who is flying them?

It is a federal offense to shoot at a drone. I think it would be a bad idea to try and shoot one. Especially when seeing what consumer grade drones are capable of seeing.
Maybe so......

........ no reported sightings in east texas

Just sayin, Hoyt

I know, I know. Just throwing it out there in case someone has two or five too many and gets an idea.

I am sure we will all find out soon enough. My money is on local or state police who contracted with a drone surveillance company that is using a swarm controlled by "A.I.". A similar thing happened with stingrays and fake cell towers. Everyone just acts like its normal for the State to want to know more about them than their own families.

Then why are the Governor's of these states acting like they don't know who is behind this and demanding answers from the Federal Gov't?

Way too many Gov't officials stating they don't know who is behind this, and then stating they absolutely are sure it is not Iran, China, etc. ... someone is lying.

Plausible deniability. It is kind of why my money is on contracted third party for "law enforcement". The Feds have been saying for years that they have no idea what a particular UFO is or was, when it was simply a weather balloon for NOAA. They wouldn't say that it's not a threat if they didn't already know. And as others have commented already, it would be easy enough to either track the signal source or send other drones up to investigate this.

Maybe there is some NDA or jurisdictional crap happening behind the scenes, but there is zero chance it is truly outer space at this point.

Yeah I think the two most unlikely are extraterrestrial (like zero chance) and foreign. Almost no chance a foreign adversary could get a group of drones inland without us doing something.
So I’m going military industrial complex, law enforcement, individual/group. Probably in that order of likelihood

You mean like a highly sophisticated surveillance military grade hot air balloon that traveled across the US for 8-10 days over key US military bases?

I heard at least 2 Fed Gov't officials last week, one from the Pentagon, positively state that it was not Iran or any other foreign military. You can't make that type of statement without having investigated and having enough info on them to know who they are.

The fact that they are so adamant that there is no danger tells me they know exactly what it is.

If private drone use is regulated by FAA, can the government say they know who it is? If a private organization is mapping or videoing for some product, can the federal or local government divulge that to the public?

I stand corrected. Maybe they don’t know what the hell they are-
Ironic that world’s greatest military is crippled by some drones.

White House National Security Communications Adviser John Kirby stated that shooting down one of the mysterious drones over the ocean can’t be done because “we have to develop the policy options based on what we know we’re dealing with here and we just don’t know enough” to do something like that.

I'm afraid the world's greatest military has become top heavy with highly expensive (profitable) but obsolete programs like tanks, aircraft carriers, and fighter jets .
The book "Animal Weapons, the evolution of warfare" really opened my eyes to this several years ago. It's an interesting read. The world's mightiest military being crippled by some drones is exactly what you'd expect if you look back at the evolution of warfare.

1000% agree. Drones will become a force multiplier that has the ability to level a battlefield. I’m sure we have some tricks up our sleeves but inevitably innovation will only come after we have seen what the opposition is working with and how they will use it.
The military angle is a legitimate issue, but the domestic terror issue is one that we haven’t scratched the surface on. Any public space is a target rich environment for a one way drone or a munition carrying drone. Additionally there is a legitimate chance a terrorist could actually get away with it considering they could be miles away from the actual event. Our lax attitude about their ability to fly freely will come back to bite us I almost guarantee. Usually I’m all about personal freedoms and less government, but the greater good would benefit from grounding most drones.

Only if the responsible party makes a claim right? Speculation over.

Donald Trump says he knows who is causing so many drones to fly in New Jersey....

Remembering back to the Viet Nam days.....when the USA learned about tunnel warfare and gorilla attacks by the Vietcong....which we were largely unprepared for. Hopefully we learn from our recent encounters......but I gotta wonder. As said.....our old military complex may be obsolete in light of so much new tech....and now AI. Scary times.....the unknown.

A good example is the Israeli use of bombs in the "old" texting devices used by Iran. Amazing things people come up with.

Well one advantage in fighting a proxy war with Russian is we are getting to see how our tech stacks up to theirs, and their allies in addition to seeing what advancements are made.

Could their be a nuke in the area and the government doesn’t want to cause chaos before finding out if it’s true?

If there's a nuke in the area, the government put it there.

The ammunition ship I was stationed on was home ported in Earle, NJ. Yes we were nuclear capable.

I like the above explanation best.

Nuclear stuff is around more than you think. Most medical facilities, food is irradiated, conveyor belt sensors, ground detecting equipment, underwater mapping.
