Minnesota is a national embarrassment.

At first / face value.....I had some troubles to think the shooting was justified. The more the details are known.....and with all the, whistles, car horns, and people scrambling about, and nobody listening to orders, chaos and many incidents going on at one time.....the more it is likely to happen. These officers have a life too. And operating with ice chunks and debris thrown at you....and lots of pushing and shoving and such going on.....its a matter of time before things go over the edge. It is precisely why we need law and order.....and leaders that do not encourage this kind of chaos and lawlessness.

(Marshal Matt Dillon would have offed a few of 'em too)

I cant speak for @Hoytvectrix but i'd love it if the state would hand over everyone in custody that isn't here legally.

I'll give you an example of why the handling bothers me - Two of my closest friends send their kids to a spanish immersion daycare. One of the primary employees there's husband was detained 2 weeks and allegedly sent to TX. Word from daycare is that he had all his papers in order and was not a criminal. My gut reaction to all of this was "yeah, sure he was. Why would they bother with a productive dude with papers in order." But the guy is back home now one would think he wasn't too bad.

Then we see Bessent, Patel, DHS, etc coming out lying about what we can see happened with our own eyes. Saying it's illegal to have a gun at a protest, that he violently resisted, that he wanted to "inflict maximum damage and massacre law enforcement" because he had 2 magazines. It sounds like what Biden/Walz would say about Kyle Rittenhouse. When you openly make absurd statements like that it makes it a lot harder to dismiss all of the claims of legal citizens/immigrants being harassed and mistreated.

There's going to be resistance from the left against any immigration control no-matter how justified. But moving forward with seeming immunity and lying about what we can actually see happened gives me the heebie jeebies regardless of the fact that this is the side i voted for.
A friend of mine manages a company in the Twin Cities that has a warehouse. This company is in a seasonal industry and has a few H1B employees that they have had working for them for a few years in a row. Two of them are brothers from Venezuela who rent an apartment together in the Cities. One of the brothers went missing for 2-3 days and wasn't located until it was discovered he was picked up by ICE. The brother that was arrested is in a detention facility in Texas right now. He had a valid work visa to live and work in the US, no criminal history, and has zero recourse to solve this problem. I am hoping something similar happens with my friend's employee as the daycare's husband, but there is not a lot to go on. In the meantime, my buddy's business, and more importantly the lives of his employees, have been completely upended due to weaponized incompetence. It's the lack of accountability that gets me.

Waltz and Frey are both talking like they've won and Trump will be cutting back on Ice force levels. That would be the worst thing that could happen.

Either he is documented or not.....the choice seems obviuos.

Or he over stayed his visa. And tell your friend to pay American wages to American citizens and his work may not be upended. Those H1 employees sound good on paper. Gotta plan for these for these things if you’re going to run a successful business.

Heart strings still not pulled. I’m not going to feel bad for a guy who centered his business on cheap foreign labor.

EDIT:
That said I don’t blame your friend. The government has let this be OK and he did what a smart guy would do, made $$. His business model may be changing and he should focus on that. Not hoping the US keeps getting fleeced.

When did he get his visa?
