Sounds like you have some aggressive critters. I've only had them destroy one crab. They are usually content waiting until the tree grows out the top and then nipping off the new growth until I get them caged.

I use the rebar electric fence posts, upside down so they can't pull the tube up, to secure the tubes since that is what I have laying around. Has worked pretty well so far.

The tube won't keep limbs from growing down low.You should still watch for multi trunks and some hardwoods still require some pruning if you want single trunks.
 
If you stay out of any towns/cities over 10k population Minnesota is a Fantastic state to live in. Providing you can afford the high taxes, are ok with looking the other way on government corruption, can afford to send your children to private schools, and dont mind the ridiculous weather.

Tampon Timmy wanted to copy Cali. I guess no one believed him when he said it. Sanctuary state(makes no sense). What bothers me the most is that even after all the illegal activity that has already been proven and much more will be found out, nothing will be done to the people that should already be sitting behind bars. I would rather not know about any of it than to have it thrown in my face like they are doing on a daily basis. jmho

Sounds like we have another shooting in Minneapolis where ICE agents are present. Sounds like 2 people shot. Possibly some guy assaulting ice agents with a shovel. State Patrol helicopter in the air. I wonder if this is how they felt living around Fort Sumner....
