Minnesota is a national embarrassment.

But I’d that really a bad thing to not have branches in the first 5’?

Most people end up removing them anyway. The tube also protects the tree from deer and rodents.

I was happy with my limited tubing of oak seedlings until yesterday’s trip to the land. Only 4 of 10 tubes in one area are still standing. I think bears knocked some over but maybe wind, snow, and deer did some too? Cages seem the way.. but they are expensive!
Sounds like you have some aggressive critters. I've only had them destroy one crab. They are usually content waiting until the tree grows out the top and then nipping off the new growth until I get them caged.

I use the rebar electric fence posts, upside down so they can't pull the tube up, to secure the tubes since that is what I have laying around. Has worked pretty well so far.

Bill, all I saw was that it came from overseas. I'm not sure which country of origin I believe it was on laura Ingrams' show tonight. I will dm you a thought I have.

Came from our good friends in China. Always looking out for our best interests.
