Lost a camera?

Not the first time I've done this...

Yesterday after my run I thought; I'll go grab that camera that I haven't checked in ages, clean it up and refresh the batteries. Might move it. When I got there it wasn't there. Now I have the vague memory of wanting to clean it up and move it before. Guess I did it. But I don't remember where I put it. Lol, it's likely in a usual spot and I'll run across it eventually. Since I bought a cell cam I almost never check my old cams. That's what I'm blaming this on (not blaming forgetfulness for sure).

Misplaced, but haven't totally lost one yet.

This sounds exactly like me!

I have lost quite a few cameras and a few ground blinds - not because I cant remember where they were - but because over half my ground is in the bottoms. This latest flood came up four feet overnight and lost two cameras. This is one of the many reasons I would never use a reconyx😎

Haha I've done similar. Walked in from a different way than usual and put up a camera. Then every time I walked in from the normal direction I could never find it. Checked some cameras yesterday and saw one that I thought I took down already. LOL. It's hell getting old.

No - $150 cheaper than $500. I saved this one walking with waders on. Lost a couple of the non cell versions

I wouldn't mind as much if I forgot where they were or wasn't anywhere near them. It's when I know I'm withing 30 yards of them and still can't find them.

That used to be my nemesis as well. So I finally resorted to hanging my non-cell cameras in exactly the same tree every time, every year. LOL Probably could have found better locations, but then I would have forgot where those better locations were.

I’ve lost a at least one camera and found one while walking for pheasants last month …honestly I didn’t remember putting it out !
🤔🥹

I have to put in my notes on my cell where they are to keep track of them. You think losing a camera is bad. A buddy a I were moving stands and we wanted to move a double stand I had so we took it down and loaded in ranger. We both know we took it somewhere and set out but in 2 years of shed hunting we haven't found it.Wonder how many sheds we miss.

I've lost two. They're on trees somewhere.

I still have one out up on a mountain, but we have so much snow it might take me a full day to recover it.

I do this too, notes as well as waypoints in OnX. The problem is I never seem to delete them after I move them, which adds confusion later. The other wrinkle with the waypoints is "Did I put one there, or did I want to put one there?"

With tactacam you name the location, as well as camera name. I always name them as a hint to find them. Even if they die, the camera name stays in the app.

We also use OnX to keep track of cameras. And color code them for deployed vs old site vs future site. Camera names hint to their location and we print out the Cuddelink report and also store the report in apple notes. Otherwise would lose many!

When we bought the neighbors a year ago, we resorted to putting some orange fabric on the tree where the cams went. That way, the person who placed the cam could find it, as well as others.

I really feel inadequate when i watch the mountainman show, where those guys have traplines 20-50 miles long, and they seem to know where every trap they set is at.

number each cam, heck I mark the ones I didn't buy from trailcampro because the other places don't have same warranty

Lol, I'm learning stuff about you guys though this thread (and I'm realizing I'm not alone)!
