Lime - tilled in or topdressed? Any difference?

I am going to add some lime to some of my corn plots this year. I would normally apply lime and then work it into the soil with tiller or disc OR apply it to ground that has already been worked and is bare and ready to plant. Do you think it makes any difference? I am short on time and would like to plant next week and apply one ton per acre right after I plant and let rain do the rest. Thoughts.

I apply lime to a few of my perennial clover plots every few years without breaking any ground and it gives the desired effect, it would probably start working quicker if you incorporated it into the soil but you will be fine without. In my mind it’s no different that farmers lining their hay fields and they never break the ground to work it in here in GA and we have some fairly acidic soil.
