Is this buck a 3 year old?

I can't tell but he sure seems to have some long legs. Might be a dandy 2 year old.

Really tough to age in the summer. We've sent in a bunch of teeth for cementum annuli aging and on the bucks we've killed from MN and WI most of them are older than we thought. I think he's just as likely to be 4.5 as 3.5. Nice buck regardless.

The long looking legs and tight belly is what I think makes this buck 3 years old. Come fall when he bulks up his chest and neck will fill out, but I doubt his legs get shorter! Real nice deer in any case. I am in no way an expert - in ANYTHING and especially when it comes to aging deer. If you cover his antlers he looks like a real nice doe. LOTS of potential standing there.
