Anybody have any experience with this plant for wildlife plantings......... particularly in regards to being a good deer browse ? thanks

I've watched deer eat the berries directly below my deer stand. I don't think it is on the preferred browse list, but just another option. Not sure how it is to plant, as I have plenty of it around naturally.

I watch deer in it often. Usually they just walk through but sometimes they stop to eat some berries. I have it everywhere so maybe deer like it more than I witness. I have enough that I use measures to control it and keep it from taking over large patches.

It appears to be a preferred food on our farm. It comes up naturally for us in certain areas. It is preferred enough, that when we have berries - there are heated discussions at the deer camp who gets to hunt those stands.

Funny story for it - Back when you had to go to a check station for deer in Missouri, a Conservation Agent said to my grandfather "that eye shot of yours was a good but odd shot, however, did you know the deer's mouth is filled with berries?" By grandfather without missing a beat replied "well, I shot at the eye, because it's head was down in the berry bucket I had sat out to lure the deer." The agent was taken back at my grandfathers reply, and was about to get serious before my grandfather started grinning ear to ear, and laughing.
