I'm on VACATION.........

Well today we left at 5AM to make the 12 hour drive to Myrtle Beach to have a weeks vacation with my family, my folks and my brothers family. We have a house right on the beach. This is the first time 2 of my girls have ever seen the ocean.

My brother already caught crabs on the beach!!!!


My 3 year old niece instead of calling them CRABS - calls them CRAPS - and has no idea why its funny!!!!!

Weather has been sunny and high 80's, low 90's thus far and just enough ocean breeze to keep the humidity under control. The ocean is warm enough that you don't freeze and the pool is like bath water. The kids bounce back and forth and are having a blast. Had a little wildlife lesson today about clams and how they burrow in the sand. There are also a couple protected sea turtle nests on the beach and we talked about how it's important to leave those alone and why. They are also experiencing the tides as well - they broke out the body boards today when the tide was coming in and had a ball.

I think we are going parasailing yet this week - I told my girls it was sort of like fly fishing for sharks! They are old enough to realize Dad has a lot of BS at this point and they are still really excited to be able to go. Another Beautiful day here 92 (humidity is 56%) with a 10 mph breeze off the ocean and plenty of cold beer and water just in case!!! Took the girls body boarding yesterday when the tide was rolling in and they had a ball. We are actually at Murrell's Inlet - just south of Myrtle Beach in a less commercialized area - it's NICE!!!!!

that does not suck in the least bit at all. i miss the salt...i was a professional beach bum once upon a time. I'm sure you could find a local bait shop and get set up with the appropriate tackle to just toss a few lines in the water, drive the rods into the beach with a sand spike and sit back with a few cold ones and wait.

We have been talking to a few folks on the beach and we may just give it a try. The one fella we talked to said he has $50 wrapped up in it with his license and a cheap rig from wal-mart. We got a marina right across the street so we should be able to find bait of some sort. My brother saw a 4 or 5 foot shark of some sort the other evening and we have been seeing small schools of some sort off the beach as well.

We are scheduled for a parasailing trip today (at Crazy Sister Marina) later in the afternoon - so I may have some pics from that later. Nobody in my house has ever done it so it should be interesting. We have seen them up and down the beach and the girls have decided that "they could do that". We ate at a place last night (Bovines Wood Fired Specialties) that overlooks the inlet/marsh here and was watching the fish and fishermen and the birds while we dinned on steak, lobster and other coastal seafood. It's a rough life this week, but somebody has to do it:D!
Planning a little trip down to the boardwalk later in the week.

Kids have been outside so much we should have bought sunscreen in a 55 gallon drum! But they are having a ball and that is what it's all about.

well we all went parasailing today and everyone had a a blast! We went up in pairs to ensure the girls didn't freak out. I went with my middle daughter who has the foot nerve issue to ensure everything went well. Everybody had a ball - we saw jellyfish, some smaller sharks and several schools of smaller fish the sharks where working. Saw the T-shirt in the gift shot and turns out - I'm a pirate!!!!

made a trip to the local pier today and let the kids do their shopping. I was interested in the fishing on the pier - I used to fish a lot when I was younger. The girls went in and got cokes and ice-creams. We then went to the trinket shops and the kids got t-shirts and some shells and the like. Yep- we did the tourist thing today. Gonna go play put-put this evening. Weather is still B-E-A-utiful!

I found a bush honeysuckle on my place today and I know that you planted it. I'm coming to the beach to hunt you down.

Well we had some excitement this evening, but it all blew over! It was pretty wild to watch this storm roll in from the west over the inlet and then come toward us on the beach - it didn't even rain enough to cover the ground. I love watching storms at home, but this was a first for me on the beach. Mostly clouds and the wind picked up - not even much lightning and only a few big drops of rain.


Well we took a chance and still went and plated put-put. Had a good time all the same. The one pic is the wife and my 3 girls and the other and youngest one is my 3 year old niece and she has this whole golf thing figured out. She would hit it once and then pick up the ball and drop it in the hole - she won obviously - she shot a 2 on every hole!!!! I figure she may even give Foggy a run for his money:D! She may even throw a temper tantrum when it doesn't go her way as well, but she is so cute she gets away with it!!!!
