I Retired Yesterday

Best friggin post I’ve read in a while! Congratulations and thank you for your service in a thankless job. Time to slow down and enjoy.

Good for you!!!

Congratulations on a well deserved retirement Peeps. I don't know how police officers do it in today's society. I'm sure it has taken a toll on you. Best wishes in your future endeavors!

Congrats and thanks for your service!

When I got hired in 98 there were 3 openings and 600 applicants. Now we run constant hiring processes and get maybe 30 applicants.
Sadly thats the way it is for law enforcement positions in general. Most people realize how much stuff you LEOs deal with on a daily basis anymore and really don't want to have to. My brother has been a city cop for probably close to 10 years now, the stories he tells are concerning to say the least.

congrats!

Congrat. Enjoy retirement it goes by quick

I did 37 years in Philly and retired 8 years ago. don't miss the job one bit

Tough Duty right there. Hopefully you got out before Krasner installed the revolving door.

I believe that. Sad times. We need to support the badge and what it stands for. Not sure it was real, but I saw a nasty video from Chicago the other day of a shootout. Not good if this is happening in our bigger cities daily.

Congrats man! "Retired" is the one position that all law enforcement officers aspire to!

Peeps if you ever get bored I'm sure the city of Minneapolis would take you. They desperately need 500-700 of you. Good luck in everything you do. If you get bored take a 10 day canoe trip into the Boundary Waters late May-early June. 100+ fish days are possible. DM me if you need some hot fishing tips. I know some phenomenal spots to wet a line at not see another person all day.

Congratulations on the retirement & thank you for your service.

Congratulations!!!!! AND THANK YOU!!!
The world is a better place because of people like you!
Thanks!

Now, Habitat work. It is absolutely the best thing ever for retirement IMO. You need to retire too something and habitat work, hunting and fishing are about as good as it gets.

Awesome!
Thanks!

Way to go! I retired as Capt. of a Sheriff's Department. Started on a small City Department in 8/1991. Went to the SD in 6/96, retired 1/15/2024. Much like you I did it all on the street. Passed up opportunities to go to Detectives, etc. Was on SWAT 20 plus years, retired the highest ranking patrol officer. Also survived a shooting. Similar paths. Hopefully you enjoy retirement as much as I am. I have zero regrets and don't miss the work, although I do miss the guys. Whatever you do, stay busy and keep in good shape. My wife and I walk 5.5 miles every morning...

Congratulations! Thanks for your service!

And thank you for your service.

I am jealous, five more months for me and I will be posting up on here that I am done.
Congratulations, Peeps! 212 days for me, but who's counting :-)

Congrats Peeps! I went 10-42 11yrs ago now from Ozaukee S.O. after 40 yrs. I do not miss it at all, especially in this day and age! Enjoy your retirement, do it now, one gets old all too quickly, so don't wait. Our place is just across the river in Menominee Co. MI. so we're almost neighbors. All the best to you in retirement!
