I Retired Yesterday

After 27+ years I retired yesterday. I’ll do something else but it won’t be pushing a black and white around dealing with meth heads . I’m looking forward to moving up to our retirement compound this summer. I can’t believe how fast the years flew by. Almost all of it was spent on night shift and all of it was on patrol. I just couldn’t do an inside position as I had to be out in the thick of it. I had 2 OIS shootings where I was just a bit quicker than the dipshits were that tried to shoot me, and was working when 2 of my partners were shot at different times. My family has been through enough so I retired as soon as I was eligible. I’m looking forward to doing more habitat work, hunting more, and fishing more. Hopefully I will be posting more now too. Thanks to everyone on this site. When I was stressed at work I would take a moment to read posts on this site. Time for the next adventure.

Heck no!! We have a place up in Marinette county. I’m up there now watching the flying squirrels on the bird feeder. Had 11 deer and probably 30 turkeys in the backyard this afternoon.

When I got hired in 98 there were 3 openings and 600 applicants. Now we run constant hiring processes and get maybe 30 applicants.
