When it comes to taking a shot at a deer or turkey I'm very selective and only go for a sure thing. But when it comes to coyotes, every shot is a shot worth taking.
Last fall I had a yote on the move crossing through some small trees about 200 yds away. It seemed like an impossible shot but I took it anyway. I had about 4 seconds to get the shot off before he disappeared into a brier thicket, and the small trees were blocking him at times while he moved.
"The Force" took control and I saw the yote react but he kept moving.
My dad was out this week looking for sheds and found the evidence. The yote covered several more yards from the spot I shot him before going down. First pic is the yote and second pic shows me standing where the yote was when I took the shot. You can see the blind in the distance.
