Hyslop and Hewes crab

Two questions for both of these.

How far north are they hardy and still have a long enough season to produce fruit?

How are they for CAR resistance?

I did do a search and read some of the older posts on this site.

Hyslop is in an older sln catalog, so it must have decent hardiness.

I have tried 2 Hyslop on my place and both died. I have sandy soil which can be tough on trees but my guess is they are not that hardy as I have had many domestic apples do fine.

Sandbur,

I have hewes crabs with lots of cedars within 20 yards on two sides. They were planted in '09 and have been producing will for 7 years. No problems yet.

We HAD 2 Hyslop crabs, but one got bulldozed by a bear last year & I had to yank it. We're at zone 6 & 5 border, nowhere near as cold as you get. Hyslop is a good producer and it's a great bloomer/pollinator. The fruit gets dry & mealy quickly though.
