Sitting in the woods looking at next years projects and was wondering do hybrid willow tolerate their feet to be wet for 30 days after melt in the spring and a few days after a big rain.
I have this question too. I have a low canary grass area that gets wet often and I want to add some cover. Also wondering which willows would be best as there are so many on BigRockTrees.com! Gets me thinking if I could get some 4'+ tall "cuttings" to plant they may stand a chance to get going...
Go out and cut yourself some local, native, dormant willow "switches" from an area with similar conditions this winter, store them in a cool place, and come spring just shove them in the ground about 2' in the area you want them in, done deal.

I have a few Steamco that I'm going to plant this weekend that are rooted. I know they will work but I wanted to buy some hybrid willow cutting and stick them next spring for a fast screen.
Not sure if John sells them, but "bigfoot" hybrid willow will tolerate a lot of moisture. I'm sure most varieties will work just fine. Native sandbar willow, while not a hybrid, can tolerate being inundated for weeks without hurting them.
