How many pounds of brassica seed?

An update to my brassica planting. I planted August 8th. 3-4 days later the plots received over 4 inches of rain. Unfortunately in the last 33 days they have only received about 0.10" of rain. Deer are in the plots almost every evening. Some pics...

We have gotten good rains on a regualar basis on my Deertopia Proving Grounds plots....which I drilled brassica into in mid August. Fantastic growing conditions...and I got about 3 acres of brassica. I did get just a little urea on it about august 1st, but it could use much more. With our move....there is no time for such. The deer are keeping mine cropped to about 1/2 the hight you show here. I think if I could get some fertilizer on it mine would be much like yours. Alas...it is what it is.

Not sure if any better groceries are available nearby.....so I am happy with what I got going here this year. Mother Nature may have treated me better this year than any other since owning this land. Rainfalls been coming very regular. You can get away with lots of mis-steps if you get timely rains. Blessed.

I took this pic to show the rye has germinated (planted about Sept 1) and how well my rolled rye from last season prevents weeds from growing and keeps some armor on the soil. Also provides some fertilizer benefits as it deteriorates. Super plan for my place. Next spring that rye will be the first thing to green up and provide food for my winter-starved deer herd. Then the rye will grow really fast (from the roots put down this fall) to provide super fawning cover in May / June and July....as the clover from previous years and that drilled this fall.....will provide more food for the summer months in the very spot they bed. Not sure a better plan exists for me.

I did terminate some pretty nice clover in about 1/2 of my plot land in order to establish the brassica.....but it will return in spring....and the extra clover I put down in fall will be there too. Now I got switch grass around the perimeter in many of these plots for extra security. Gonna add one more tweak for next year.....stay tuned.

What is not to like about the program?? Or as CHARLIE KIRK said...."prove me wrong". This plan is golden for me. grin.
