High Grading, Bait, Cams and Crossbows is no good for anyone!

For large antlered bucks, age is what I rank as number one above all else. How to get them there is the problem. For the most part, you have to have a good neighborhood (unless you own the neighborhood). But, small core areas, or areas of extreme protection can help. Look at subdivision bucks, unhunted park or industrial park bucks, or similar places that are extremely protected. If you take bucks out at any age, 3.5 or 4.5 or 5.5, etc. they stop growing. Sometimes you don't know what bucks might look like if you're taking them before they get to their peak, whatever that is for the area. I believe lots of people have a false impression is of the top end bucks look like in their area. They may think they'll never have book bucks, but it may be because they're killing them all before they even get there.
