Herbicides I have used and rates

I would do 0.3 oz per gallon and use hand sprayer for plot that size. If atv sprayer just use 0.3oz/gallon for how many gallons it takes to cover plot.

Pigweed in RR Soybeans- anyone used imazamox/raptor to kill?

I have used Imox at 6 oz many times to clean up clover.

It is supposed to kill smartweed and yellow nutsedge but I am having a problem with both. I bought a jug of Basagran to add into my rotation. I believe it is working- used it at 2 pints per acre and label says I can come back in a few weeks with one pint per acre if that doesn’t work. Basagran is a broadleaf herbicide with no residual that kills almost everything lot of weeds but is safe for clover and ==possibly== some other legumes and beans.

I am also having a problem with poison ivy and another ivy that has very waxy leaves. I believe this is related to not using correct amount of crop oil. I used MSO crop oil at 20.5 ounces per acre. I hope I figured it right- my sprayer puts down 16 gallons per acre and I used an online tool to figure that my rate should be higher than I normally use. I also used a small amount of dry granulated AMS as I have hard water. I don’t often see AMS recommended with herbicides that also call for crop oil but I believe in small amounts it is the right move in some situations.

I am now at about day 5 and my target weeds are nice and yellow. No leaf damage to the clover, even with that rate of crop oil.

Another great tip I read here on H-T is to go to Dollar General and get one of the metal mesh kitchen strainers. Anything going in the tank that is old, is coming from an old jug or has any appearance of being anything but pristine goes through the strainer that sits nicely on my fill hole.

It kind of seems like rotating herbicides is a good idea. If you are using a herbicide that kills almost everything, but you create an environment where those specific weeds arent controlled it seems like you create a great opportunity for those few species of weed to LAUNCH. I don’t know but this is the approach I’m taking for in the foreseeable future.
