Haybale blind covering

Most people use the biodegradable erosion control blankets for covering their diy bale blinds. I'm looking for something not biodegradable but still looks like hay in a roll. I can't seem to find anything in a roll that has the hay appearance.

Duck hunters use fast grass for blinds. It might work but it will rot if left out indefinitely.

Yeah, about the only permanent solution I can find is expensive. I'm tempted to just wrap with the cheap stuff, then wrap that with the clear pallet wrap material.

Not sure about plastic. This just dawned on me. Harbor freight has a tan canvas drop cloth. My buddy used it on his duck boat. Weather makes it look better. Deer are not that bright anyway.

I think I'm going to go with these. I was planning to make the bale 6' wide and the cattle panels are 16' long, so one of these should fit over the top perfect. Then, the sides will need to have another one. But, I'm building 2 blinds, so I can buy 3 and split one between the 2 blinds. They're cheap at $26 and should last longer than the erosion blankets.

Not a bad idea with the bamboo! I loved my hay bale blind but I was lucky to get 2 years out of my erosion control matting I used. Loved having my young son in there with me. Always a great spot to hunt when it rained too.

That is a thought. I haven't seen many bales around my area with those though. I was trying to make it to where it would fool people as well as the occasional nomadic rutting buck.The back of one of these will be visible from a road until I thicken my borders.

roger that... I was gonna say, if you leave it set year round, forget the haybale pretense and just build a blind. I have a couple that my buddies say stick out like a "diamond in a goat's a$$"

Their words, not mine, but we do just fine in them because they're out all the time.

But if you're fooling humans, ya, a hay bale look is not a bad route.

Part of it is I'm cheap. And, I can build one of these for about $150 that's roughly 6x6, won't rot, blocks wind and rain, suitable for deer/turkey/bow/gun, can be left out year round and doesn't stick out to someone passing by.

Nothing wrong with being cheap in the blind department. Deer won't care...
