Growing Callery pear rootstock from seeds

Telemark

5 year old buck +
I went around and picked some up off the ground. Most were destroyed by birds or lawnmower tires.

Has anyone tried this? What percentage should I expect to germinate? Should I remove the seeds or plant the whole fruit?

Your not planning on trying to take any of those to Ontario are you?
You need to Google how invasive they are. Lots of other good pear varieties out there.

No way! I'm planting them in Ohio, about 50 yards from where I found them.

I know they are invasive. I found hundreds of them today. Mostly in the local Metropark.

Well I have given up on growing them from seeds. Turns out there are enough trees around to graft a couple dozen pear varieties. If I get permission from the Metropark, i could possibly graft scores of trees.
