GRIN apple scion

i busted out my bag of GRIN would tonight and really looked everything over. They clearly do a great job from shipping to labeling to bundling. The quality of the cuttings is top notch. Clearly gets me pumped up to get the knife out and start cutting.

Knife's sharp, bandages handy, can't wait to make that first cut...................OUCH!!!:eek::D

Is Geneva the location of the GRIN apple orchard ??

I
Yes, apples are in Geneva NY. Here is a link to their overview. If you click on the annual reports on the left, it gives a summary of new accessions and how much scionwood/budwood they ship.

https://www.ars.usda.gov/research/programs-projects/project/?accnNo=424615

I read the 2016 report, 400 some domestic requests for samples, guessing memhers of this site accounted for 5-10% of those requests.

Wow I thought there would be more requests and yes Matt they do a great job. It's the only free government program I ever have been involved in lol. I hope they keep it lol

Attention:

This is a test of the emergency broadcast system. I have just received my GRIN shipping notification, I'd like to thank all you tax paying citizens for the wonderful gift you have bestowed upon, oh & Dawn, God Bless Dawn. :)

I don't speak French
Can you translate any of those to English : ). ?????

Paul, GRIN has some spanish cider apples too. There are a couple late ones I am tempted to try. But I am reluctant to try too many cider varieties without have much information on disease problems. I do not want to spray much and try to mostly graft hardier stuff. I am sure I'll end up removing some of what I have. I have a Kingston Black I would not have bought had I done better research. I have been tempted to re-assign it to another variety.

Mostly French varieties for cider that I have researched on various hard cider websites. I visited the Normandy area 2 years ago also and there were Apple trees all over the place as we drove through various towns but I can't translate them lol

I saw some things about Spanish varieties and I see Cummins has quite a few of them for sale but not a lot of info on them. May still give a few varieties a try

I haven't looked through Cummins cider listing in a while. They must have all the Spanish varieties that have been imported and cleared quarantine testing.
