This past spring I frost seeded some clover. The clover is filling in nicely.

that looks great. I have tried a few times with no success at all. I cant get myself to try it any more. I just feel better about a good seedbed and doing it that way.

stu, nailed it. The main reason it doesn't work as well on sandy soil is because the larger soil particles of the sand do not cling together like the smaller soil particles you find in loamy and especially clay type soils. Those particles tendency to cling together are what causes the frost to heave and contract which draws the seed into the fractures in the soil surface.

Well son of a gun...... Thank you guys. Good to know I am just not a crappy frost seeder. :)

I like to spread clover early in the spring
Then mow and mow, no chemical. Clover next to corn really helps save the corn from browse.image.jpg
