Nice trout - what is a delayed harvest water? I couldn't zoom in on the picture, but is that middle one a brook trout? What was that bottom fish?

The brown trout on top has some really nice colors.

Delayed harvest is water that won’t likely sustain trout through the warm months. They stock in the fall and just do catch and release until the spring and then open it up to harvest cause they will likely die anyway

Thought you guys would like this.

My son who I've posted with some big fish texted me this week that He's #1 on the leader board so far this year. Creek in his back yard with super light gear.

Lol!

Catfishing is pretty slow so far this year in Minnesota.

Twigs alerted me the far rod was going off.
Huge storm came through, but they seem to be feeding on crawfish

Starting to rain. Rivers are down several feet.

It’s been really slow. But no mosquitoes 🦟 makes it enjoyable.

Spending a couple of days this weekend with dad, trying to find him a couple of places to fish and maybe catch a few for dinner. Found a nice pond in conservation land yesterday afternoon, kept a couple of small channels and about 20 bluegill. Much better this morning catching three nice cats and maybe ten bluegill at a small lake.

We did pretty well on the crappies in Northern MN.

Went out looking for some channel cat action. They did not cooperate but I did land a catfish after a long battle that I assumed was a sturgeon. 43" flathead weighing in at 48 lbs!

Tell us about your boat. From the one picture that looks like a no nonsense fishing rig.

It's an aluminum 16.5' v hull from the early 90's with the original mercury 50 hp 2 stroke. Father-in-law bought it used in the early 2000's. He passed in 2008 and it's been ours since. Wife says it's ours for life so I gotta keep it in service. Took some time, money, and frustration but fingers crossed it's been running solid the past few years. Rewired the trailer hours before taking it out on Sunday and replaced the livewell pump a few weeks ago. I've added a shit ton of rod holders and when we fish the river for cats I remove the two rear seats for a landing and bait prep area. Father-in-law is probably cursing at the mess that comes with this type of fishing but smiling ear to ear as the memories are made. Had my 17 and 10 year old sons out with me on this night. Lots of fish have been hoisted into this rig over the years.

What did it bite in?
Tube loaded with stink bait then sprayed with a blood spray. Until this, I had never caught a flathead on stink bait. I don't even use the blood spray often but since the channels weren't biting I started going through my bag of tricks.

Nice, that's a big fish....
Yes sir. We have caught a number of cats in the mid-upper teens but never a 20. Don't really target flatheads much and never dreamed of boating something like this before getting a 20 lb channel.
