Fall planted clover, chicory and grains

Well that ought to feed them for awhile ;)

Looks awesome!!

I also like using chicory. Plot looks good.

With plots like that, summer annuals might just be pointless!

Beginner's luck with Native !! He's a newbie at this habitat stuff. :D ( I think his Dad plants the plots besides drilling yotes and bobcats !! ) ;):D

Good looking plot!

He's waiting for the hay to be cut now. The field south of me where he loves to hunt so much is grown up with grass so high that coyotes are hidden, but they will be cutting and rolling before too long. Also, I will be mowing NWSGs soon, so he's ready for that hunting too. I just hope there are some left for him to hunt. He keeps them thinned out so much you can go a long time without seeing one.

I got my chainsaw hung today and had to go and borrow his saw to get mine loose. He had just finished mowing his yard. When I went back to my place I heard the 220 Swift crack 3 times, so he's getting ready for action...LOL. His place is about 3/4 of a mile from me, so I can hear that gun easily from my farm. When I'm working I hear it go off frequently!

Can't believe red clover is starting to bloom so early. Incredible.

Hope it don't choke out my little apple tree.

That clover / chicory patch is incredible !! Am I seeing a little alfalfa in there too ?? Thought I saw a few leaves.

Tell Dad he has fans out here on the forums. Does he hire out further north ?? !! :D We have some howlers here that need some lead intake !!

I did have a little alfalfa and also a small amount of Balsana Fixation Clover in the mix, but it was mostly medium red and Durana. For sure I am seeing some of the BFC. Now the funny thing is that where I planted a lot of BFC, I'm not seeing it, but that spot was poor ground. I had hopes that the BFC would do well on the poor spot without any fertilize, but it isn't going to happen.

But the small amount of BFC that I mixed in on the good ground took hold and is coming up with the other stuff. BTW - I put no fertilize or lime on that plot. It's just good low bottom soil there.

Dad is 81 now and says he isn't going to go on any more hunting trips away from home. The last one he took a few years ago was a mule deer hunt out west. He shot one at 367 yards and had to put a second bullet in it to get it down. He complained for three weeks that he was too old to hunt anymore and couldn't hit the side of a barn.:D

I don't think I'd want to be a coyote with him behind the scope, despite his claim of " he can't hit the side of a barn " !! ;) We have a camp member that wailed a deer last year at about 200 yds., uphill thru some brush - one shot. He's 84. Yeah - these older guys are " helpless " when it comes to shooting !!! :D

If can can still get out in the woods and carry a gun at 71 or 74 I'll be a happy camper!

The two of us mowed 60 acres of nwsgs today - got it done, and won't have to think about it again until next spring. My rear end was dragging the ground. Before I left he said, "I think I will get my rifle and go back and sit until dark. Might be a good time to see one since we stirred the rabbits up.":D
