Elderberry?

Is this elderberry? I found it in a cut on my land and the deer are hammering it like few things I have seen.
 
Looks like elderberry. I have a ton of red elderberry that shot up after logging in a more upland woodlot. The black berry elderberry I see growing in swamp marshes.
I don't really hear people talking about different types?
 
There's a difference. I'm no expert on it, but maybe Stu can chime in. Red berried elder I believe is poisonous to humans. Black elderberry is not, but you don't want to be eating seeds due to them having an arsenic content to them.

That's my crude understanding. When it doubt, spit it out.

That's also my understanding. I basically just know them by the color of the berries.


I'd say with 97% confidence that it's elderberry.
