Do you remember it being colder

-12 yesterday morning and -3 today.

I am ready to start bitchin about how hot it is

Most billionaires do give a lot of money away. Most billionaires use their money to open and run businesses.

Elon Musk pays 120,000 people to work in his companies - and now he is working to save us money - for free😎

The cold weather got my fig trees again this year. About half the rural homesteads around here 15 years ago had a 25 year old fig tree in their yard. Now, nobody has a producing fig tree because they get froze back to the ground every other year. I have had enough. No more fig trees for me.

Man... Don't think for one second he is doing it for free. He may not be getting a paycheck from the Government for doing what he is doing right this second, but don't think he is doing it for free. He is a billionaire. He didn't get that way by doing anything for free...

Now I dont know for sure, but this is what I heard come out of the Presidents mouth, that Elon, and most of the young kid helpers are either doing it for free, and some where Elons programmers form his companies, and Elon is still paying them to work for Doge from his companies.

I know there were a few other CEO's that also donated their time to work for Doge as well, I dont recall who, but I bet Google would.

Won't dispute that, but again, he'll get taken care of eventually though he isn't taking a paycheck right now. Has DOGE looked into NASA? I'm sure they eventually will and things may even get cut. When that happens, I can guarantee what won't get cut. That's how he gets paid.

I am a SpaceX nerd, so I do follow a lot of Elons stuff. Elon has cut a couple of his own benefits, one being the $7500 electric vehicle rebate, also cut a solar rebate, which cuts a lot of potential money from his pocket. I believe he also cut the 400 million dollar electric military truck that Biden signed. As for NASA, Elon is doing this stuff for a fraction of what NASA was able to do it for, or any other company, which is why he gets the bids. NASA said their cost to launch satellites was 1.5 billion dollars, and at the time Musk charged 50 million, now its 20 million for each normal size-Falcon 9 launch. Even his heavy and super heavy launches are under 100 million per launch.

Ya, I am a rocket nerd, and I would love to go see Starship launch from South Padre island sometime, but damn work gets in the way. I have seen from afar the launch and landing of a Falcon 9 rocket, it was cool.

1 thing I do know that DOGE ceases to exist by July 3rd 2026.

So with those rebates it seems he got paid in advance?

I'm not anti-Elon, anti-DOGE, any of that. I just hope nobody is naive enough to think they are doing any of this out of the goodness of their hearts. They are going to get paid, of in the case of the ridiculous rebates I guess they already got paid. Either way, they are taken care of. We still lose, perhaps we just lose less. 😂

Elon doesn't have to jump through any of the governmental hoops that NASA does, that lowers his cost by allot. Do yo think that the FAA will adopt a new ATC system that is designed and implemented by SpaceX?

I think Trump and Musk both have had life by the tail. More money than they could every spend, commanded more companies/people than most, more material luxuries, women, power, fame....what's left?
Their legacy
I'm truly hoping that they're both after a positive legacy, that will stick with them after they go. If that's true, be prepared to see the biggest gov't turnaround in recent history, which will solidify their legacy. If not, and either one has bad intentions, good luck to them trying to them trying to squeeze money out of something while under a forensic microscope at a nationwide level. I'm pretty sure both are smart enough to understand they wouldn't be able to get away with much of anything when it comes to national funds.

This is what global warming does. 200,000,000 years ago there was a relative of the monkey puzzle tree growing here. A mere 5,500 years ago this was a juniper woodland with flowing water. Just 1,200 years ago the plant community changed, and sexual reproduction was greatly reduced in some species that remain today. Three cultures came together just north of here, maybe the only place in NA, but they left because it got dry, and hot not too long ago.

We are all going to die in 7 - 14 years, and if you don't you will in another 7-14 years. Its your fault....this time.

The weather was great btw, high 60s, light breeze.

I may be that naive?
Watched an interview with him the other night and he laid it out pretty good.
Said the USA is a ship and it’s sinking, it is going bankrupt.
Said that if the USA fails it will affect Europe the same and be a domino effect the whole world will fail. Right now the USA is the strongest/richest country in the world, but it has been running into the ground for fifty years with recklessness spending.
If America looses he looses too, we all do.
So I think Elon is doing it for multiple reasons…self preservation, he truly is into America and the “legacy” part that Mtyhunter brought up a couple posts ago.

Our country cannot sustain going the direction it has financially and the world economy is being affected by it.

Back to the temps…I’m with Swampcat, bring on those warm days!
