Diy hunting blind

Bszweda

5 year old buck +
I decided to build some hunting box blinds for the new property. My first one is almost done. Just need to router out two more windows, and I'm not happy with my roof but amazed I got it done. I bought a router after watching a YouTube video where the guy made it look easy. Mine for some reason kept choking out and used alot of batteries disappointed with it though maybe it's something I'm doing. The skill saw saved the day, I wasn't expecting to need it but it came in clutch. So for I spent a lot of time. Two really long days yesterday sunrise to sunset. Also a good amount of time the week before. I made a bunch of mistakes, but hopefully I won't make them again. Trying to install polycarbonate roofing in 25 to 40 mile per hour winds was interesting and I questioned my sanity as I was on my knees in a farm ditch trying to get a functional roof. Lifting a drop in roof over my head on a step ladder isn't recommended either.

That is a great looking blind. I hope the finished product will allow you to soon forget the grief experienced putting it together. Thanks for sharing both the experience and the pictures.

Where did you get the door and windows?

Orion hunting blinds sell diy windows I'm happy with them and glad I went with them, will see how they hold up. The door is from deerview it's the 20x60 . I ordered 4 doors and picked them up at the Iowa deer classic to save on shipping.

LOOKS RIGHT NICE

How does that size work with riflesand crossbow? Easy to get the gun out the window. I drive past a field with a stoe bought stand a good bit smaller than yours.

IF you want a tiny window for the door side, they make small boat windows.

12v car battery and a 12v heated blanket is a great additon if you get cold w/o heat in there. Put a solar panel up and your good for the whole season without moving the battery.

I don't know ... I was thinking I need to buy a short 16 inch single shot rifle, and a compact crossbow.Any recommendations? I have a Henry single shot 357 mag I'm going to see how it fits. I actually have been thinking about the heat situation. How big of a solar panel do you recommend?

I've been slowly building one in my driveway too. I just chip away at it one task at a time. Getting close! We'll move it to the spot using a tractor and elevate it 3 or 4 feet. It'll sit on a high spot so we don't need to get it up in the air. I used my circular saw to cut the door out and it worked really well. I did have to finish the corner cuts with a hand saw though. It's actually got the side walls on there now. The next step is the trim boards. In the end, I'm hoping it'll look like the last photo. I mocked it up using AI Tools. I doubt it'll get the fancy flowerly camo job though.

I do wish I'd have installed the sheathing before I stood up the walls. I'm not all that handy and getting the angles cut for the roof and everything flush and square was challenging for me. Since I took the photos, I installed siding on the side walls.

Looking good ... Haha I know exactly how you feel about getting everything flush and square. I just blame it on the 2x4 that are about as straight as elton john. I think my next one I'm using pressure treated for everything as it's only 50 cent more per 2x4. I'm not happy with my roof, I'm going to try and touch it up this weekend.
