Deer visiting my place - Age?

Native Hunter

5 year old buck +
This deer showed up on my place the day before gun season started and I had pics of him off and on at the same camera up until about daylight the next morning. Never saw him before, and I think he would be easy to recognize with those funky looking brows. I just wonder how many miles he traveled that day to get to my place, and I wonder if I will ever see him again. What do you think?

I see 3 1/2. Could just be passing through looking for ladies. Hopefully he found something that will peak his interest. It’s tough to know why and if they will continue to show

3 yr old. Nice bonus buck! Bet he likes what he sees!

Man those reconyx trail cameras take nice pictures... Native what county are you in?

I'm not far from Lake Cumberland. Where are you?

I'm in the good solid 3.5 YO camp.

One thing that surprises me about that deer is how fat it looks. Most of the bucks I have seen have run their hind ends off recently chasing does.

Can't speak for KY or anywhere other than the 4000 acres or so between me and "several" neighbors but this year there hasn't been any flat out running. Just a few bumps. Followed by cordial shadowing. Brother filmed a 130" 10 tonight in lock down. He was right next to a dead coyote and stomped all 4 feet as he walked along. I have to upload that :)

I drove my truck up to a 120" 8 this morning standing where he shouldn't have. Stood there while I glassed him with the truck running 150 yards away in plain sight. He wouldn't leave this little draw. I assume a doe was down there. Actually got tired of waiting and I left :emoji_scream:

Maybe our bucks got PC and don't want to be accused of harassment :emoji_thinking::emoji_stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Maybe he doesn’t identify as male.

We don't want to get any of that stuff started around here....

I checked the cams on the east side of the place today. He must have come in from that direction, because he had worked that fence row really hard the last two weeks.

Another one I've never seen before. This one looks 2 YO to me.
