Cuddelink L series Q & A

yes you can, and 2 dedicated cards would be a good policy - you may find that you will save money with a monthly cell plan though running it only during hunting season , the gas and drive time alone unless you live on the property ends up costing more than 1 $15 plan on a network.
Won't a full format aka "clear" of the card wipe all the settings? It happens any time I put a new memory card in an L camera, even if it stays powered on. Maybe if you just copy out the DCIM folder with the pics you can "swap" cards.

clearing the card doesn't change settings, a reset under tests will clear all settings.

Just so I'm clear, dies the "home" cell have a card that I can swap?

yes every camera including the Home unit needs an SD card, 16gb sandisk will work fine in all of them

Every pic that every cam takes saves as a high res pic on that cams card. Since the images are sent from cams to the home unit as low res pics, every pic that comes to the home unit is also saved on that card, just in lo res. The card will have a separate folder for each camera photos.
Lo res, high res, doesn't make any difference. I'm not trying to score a rack from a trail cam photo, lo res works just fine

That's what I'm thinking. If its something special, I can always go get the card from the camera that took the original picture at a later date. Correct?

that is correct. i've never been close to filling up a card.

What is the battery life of the D batteries in a cuddelink camera? Does a guy just go to solar and be done with it? Where my cams would go, sun is a little tough. It could be done, but won't be full sun.

I got about five months on the D's here in Missouri. When it got to -20, I often got a low battery notice that would go away when it warmed up.
Go with the solar. I am using the 3600's and have had good service from them. I am just starting to replace the rechargeable batteries after 1100-1200 days in the field. I only have one in "full sun" (the home camera). The rest are in marginal areas and have served me well.

John, I am replacing my G with an L Home. Just to confirm, I'll need to call customer service to make this change to my account. Is there anything else I need to know to make the change? I'll update the firmware before making the swap.

just add the device to your account but dont pick a plan or buy a plan, then pm me your log in email and i can move the plan from your g to the L home, then you will need to make sure its on the same firmware , channel etc and run a cell test- or you can call CS at Cudde and they will do it for you.

45-60 days on 4d's alone , they go years on solar, if you can find a sun /shade pw-003 solar that is best in tree cover, we are sold out right now and not many left at dealers , more coming in December.

Time for larger batch orders! These seem to go out of stock too frequently.

I'm in for 4 of them when they are in stock.

i have the 3600 panels, and I've had great use from them, even tho they may only get less than half a day of sun. when we have 3-4 days of rain or bad weather, the panel will get low, but have batteries in the unit for backup.

I wish I had gone solar years ago. I recommend bit the bullet and go solar. It will pay in long run financially and short term as it will keep one out of the habitat, and stinking up an area.
