Cuddelink L series Q & A

Can I take the card back home, dump the pictures and clear there?
How about 2 dedicated cards for that camera?

yes you can, and 2 dedicated cards would be a good policy - you may find that you will save money with a monthly cell plan though running it only during hunting season , the gas and drive time alone unless you live on the property ends up costing more than 1 $15 plan on a network.

One set of cameras would be at my house and the hunting property is only a mile from my work.

Black flash or IR?
Leaning towards black flash. Most setups will be short range in the woods.

methinks the cuddelink system will work perfectly for your situation. It's awesome not stomping up your area to check cams. The sd card can be an issue, but not enough to worry about. The low res pics work just fine. If you have a great pic, you can get the hires pic off the cam card that took the pic. Black flash....they work, but I have a couple and I'm not a fan. These cams are also very durable and long lasting. Battery life is decent.

Reason being?

Better nighttime pictures. The IR lights it up better than the black flash. I don't notice that distance helps that either. Daytime pics are fine.

poor nighttime pics. the black flash range seems to be about half of regular IR. its doable if your set up is taking pics at fairly close ranges.
The deer find my cameras, black flash or not. I've used both for a long time now (cuddebacks) and I haven't noticed anything that tells me the deer are less spooky around black flash.
I think the only advantage is when the cam takes a pic at night, the resulting flash is not nearly as easy to see, thereby maybe hiding the camera better if your cams are in sketchy areas

Maybe with the IR, I can set the camera back a little further?

I would think so. I get pictures with deer in the background and with the IR you can tell what they are way better than the black flash.

Sounds good.

Like John said above, you can use a camera as a home unit that all your pics get delivered to. But, don't do that, cause the cell unit is not only cheaper than a cam, but you'd lose a camera making it a home unit. You don't have to have a cell subscription for the home unit to work.
My first cuddelink purchase was 4 cam and 1 cell unit. I used it for 2 years without cell service, placed the home unit where I parked my truck.
Then I'd sit in the truck with my laptop, viewing all the pics for along time. No stomping up my area, which is awesome.
Finally got the cell service, and I'm fine with paying for it. Got 10 cams now on the same system, so yeah, it's $40 a month for unlimited, but you could likely get by with a $20/month plan with just a few cams. You can turn the cell service off at any time, no contracts. I've had about 5 different manufacturer cams over the years, and these cuddebacks are as good as any I've ever used so far. There's a little bit of a learning curve, but there is with all cams.

That's exactly what I wanted to hear. Sounds like it will do what I want.

Recommendations of where to buy from?

There seems to be deals everywhere. saw where sportsmans warehouse has 2 cams and a cell unit for $299.
cell units should be $80-90, and the new L units are around $130
also note that on cuddebacks website, they have the old model G cameras, brand new, for only $100. They work perfectly fine, same warranty, and on those you can change the flashes from IR to black flash, just have to buy the separate module.
My G and J cams I bought in 2018 are still working just fine.

Thanks. Looks like the sun & shade solar panels are sold out everywhere.

I've used Farmstead Outdoors and been really happy with shipping speed.

I went with Farmstead.
Only thing I couldn't get were the sun&shade solar panels.
Thanks to everyone for all the help!
