I’m not John. But fyi. A 1.5v(nominal) battery is considered dead at 1.4v. Six batteries in series=9v. So that would correspond to 6x1.4v=8.v being dead in a 6 battery series.
Voltage drop may not seem significant, but voltage is proportional to remaining amps.
You need to check voltage under a load. Capacity (amps) is a better way to check batteries.
Hope this helps.
YesThe K-model has X-Change Flash System?
to expand on this, my personal experience is running the boosters is more economical than not when considering total battery cost. Example.. when running the 6 d cell booster and the 4 internals as a back up you will get more days of usage because the 6 d cells are in series. When you add a booster one would assume its a simple math equation in that 50%(2)more batteries increase battery life by 50 % over the 4 internal d's, in my experience you actually increase it up to 100% before it switches to the internals). Running the booster will save you on battery cost alone not to mention the time and effort it removes from changing out batteries more often.I’m not John. But fyi. yes its the same as the g series in that respect , the flash modules are interchangeable between the g's and K's. The Powerhsoue black flash is very close to the performance of the standard IR in the J and the dual flash in IR mode. IF someone wants back flash i always recommend the powerhouse black.does K model have the super capacitors?
it switches to internals when the external is lower than the internal 4 d's.John,
First let me say that is nice to see you posting again. My questions is...I had three G series cameras report EXT = Low! (They have the original 6 D battery booster packs hooked up). When I go to properties and look at the external battery voltages it looks like the EXT = Low is triggered somewhere around 7.3 and 7.4 volts. I replaced the batteries and measured the 6 D batteries that I took out in series (end to end) and they measure around the 7.3 to 7.4 level. Do you know at what battery voltage the camera will switch over to the internal batteries? It seems like a huge waste of batteries to be replacing batteries that are at 7.3 volts and the EXT = Low report comes back, considering 6 new D batteries are only 9.0 volts.
If this is a better question for CS then I understand, but just thought I would ask here first before calling CS.
Thanks...........
i would plan on changing the batteries at 120 days if you are using the replacement d pack on the J, in my experience that is about the longest they go although its possible they will go longer. I have had very few last less than 100 and usually they are about 120, a few ran 90 in very cold temps.Question about the Battery %. I have been running my J cams with the D battery packs for 90 days. The cams have taken about 400 pics each. All the Battery % readings are at 75%. That is awesome for battery use and they have stayed at 75% for a couple weeks. Will they drop off quickly? Should I plan to change the batteries in Sept no matter what the Battery % is so I can stay away from the cams during season? So far I am loving this system. It has performed flawlessly for me to this point.
I just noticed that the home cell has been discontinued. Will the new K 5789 model batteries last about the same time as the home cell units have?it switches to internals when the external is lower than the internal 4 d's.
I'd do just that, change the batteries for the very reason you said.Question about the Battery %. I have been running my J cams with the D battery packs for 90 days. Is there a high gain type of antenna for the individual cameras or remotes that would extend the distance that they could communicate down the "daisy chain"?
Safes for the K series wont be available until late fall. since the K takes 6 d cells it should last longer than the G with only 4 d's , i still recommend a battery accessory for the K, either a solar panel with internal rechargeable D's, a 3358 battery booster with the k adapter cord( available later this month) or the New dual power bank, available sometime in august.I just noticed that the home cell has been discontinued. I would be looking at only use it as a cell unit not as a camera, is that a option. I have found some K models cheaper than the home cell. Do you know
if there are safety boxes available for the K units yet?

Spypoint makes one. Look up reviews on Amazon. $80
No
That's for cell service signal. He's referring to improving the RF signal of the cuddelink
home unit will send a report and whatever images are in que every day at approximately 430 am , this is why you you recieved two emails this morning.the second email this morning was your 12 hour email. if there isnt anything in que it wont send and email.I have my home cell set to send images every 12 hours. It sends at 5:00am and 6:00pm (which isn't every 12 hours). Every once in a while it will send pictures at 6:00pm and 5:00am and then again at 6:00am. The network isn't overloaded and there's nothing in queue according to the report. This morning at 5:00am I got 4 pictures taken between 6:00 and 9:00pm last night and then at 6:00am I got 2 more taken at 5:30 this morning.

most efficient setting into utilize batch 20 or 30 as your setting, you will still get whatever images are in que sent each early morning.
