Italy is probably not a good comparison to other modern countries.

This is a good read on Italy and why their 10% statistic is not a correct barometer of what is occurring on other countries.
https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2020/03/italy-coronavirus-fatality-rate-high-200323114405536.html

Here is a section of the article that brings light to why such a high death percentage.

"The numbers we have are not representative of the entire infected population," said Massimo Galli, head of the infectious disease unit at Sacco Hospital in Milan, the main city in the worst-hit region of Lombardy where 68 percent of the total national fatalities have been reported.
Galli explained that as the emergency situation rapidly deteriorated over the past month, Italy focused its testing only on people showing severe symptoms in areas with high epidemic intensity - the result, experts say, is that the currently available numbers produce a statistical artefact, a distortion.
"This causes an increase in the fatality rate because it is based on the most severe cases and not on the totality of those infected," Galli said.

Well that's good news on the one hand but on the other that is awful news to see they aren't testing properly. That's probably part of the reason so many are getting infected.

Hopefully these antibody tests will be available quickly. I’m not sure if there talking a week or three weeks. This would free up a large part of the population and not use up tests Relieves a lot of anxiety also. Right now you just have to assume everybody’s got it. You don’t need a test for that as they say and you really don’t need a test to know your sick. Frees up a lot of PPE also if they don’t have to use it for testing. so actually cutting back on testing and assuming your infected is actually going to be more helpful at this point until the antibody tests come online.

Down to 2.875 now

I called Wells Fargo the day they cut the rate .5% and she told me 2.75% for 15 years. That seems like a long time ago. Haven't done anything since, but likely will at some point if things calm down. I expect at some point we might see even better then that. I am always one good hail storm away from just writing a check and being done with ever borrowing money again.

Just out of curiosity what do you own that could cause 60K+ of hail damage?

Think I just heard a pin drop.

Just wondering if anybody thinks they've already had Covid-19. Back early February I caught something nasty, and I never get sick. And I'm not exaggerating....I never get sick. I had all kinds of experimental anti-chemical and anti-anthrax vaccines when I was in the military...had to sign a waiver that I would never discuss of acknowledge them. My wife says nothing will grow in my body. Well, I got something...fever, chills, aches, headache, severe fatigue. Called in sick 2 days in a row...don't think I've taken a sick day in the past 10 years, and I'm a high school teacher. Cleared that major stuff and then had a 3 or 4 week nagging nasal thing with a cough. While at that was happening I also had the shortness of breathe that seems to accompany this. I went for a walk and got 5 minutes out the back door and had to stop to catch my breathe. Climbing a flight of stairs sent my heart racing. Finally, I also had a total whacked out sense of taste, which seems to be another symptom people are experiencing who had Covid-19.

I'm convinced I either already had it, or had something very similar in that Corona family of viruses?

Anybody else?

My wife is a school teacher as well, and early February half the school was out for a bad respiratory sickness. Just wondering if that was it as well?

I had something bad myself. Very similar to what you are saying. Enough stress in my life I just figured it was due to working too much and not getting nearly enough sleep. Didn't go to the doctor as I'm not a fan of experimental anything. I'm not willing to be anyone's guinea pig. Had not been sick in years until that. Lasted about 5 weeks and was getting to the point of going in when it started to feel like pneumonia. Better now.

I own an exterior remodeling business. I did roof siding gutters on 2 good sized duplexes that were blasted by baseball sized hail last August and just recently finished all the siding. I am still trying to get all the funds recovered for my clients. Also raise some corn and soybeans on the side. Started both businesses from zero and have zero debt. A couple more good storms and I will be able to retire from construction and focus solely on farming, hunting and fishing.

I too hardly ever get sick and around the first of Feb my wife and I came down with something body aching, slight fever, chills and upper respitory conjestion tested negative for the flu and step. I felt really bad for a couple 2-3 weeks and my wife is just started feeling ok. We've wondered the same thing.

THE THIRD CRISIS

Brought to You in About 7 Days

First, of the 16 states that have statewide stay-at-home - social distancing restrictions, most were implemented by Democrat Governors (NY, CA, IL NJ, DE, CT ,LA, HI, WA for example). Two large Republican states (OH and MD) have statewide restrictions as well. Other states, most

often republican, have piecemeal restrictions imposed by mayors (St. Louis mayor, Miami mayor, San Antonio mayor, Atlanta, Philadelphia for example). Why this difference by political affiliation? Trump told the states they would manage the virus problem in their respective states with assistance and back up from Washington (why he did this is worthy of another post .. hang tight). It is overwhelming obvious at this point that DJT is less than fond of stay-at-home. If you saw his "town hall meeting at noon today on FOX (nice way to jabber on without the press), he said he was against it from the start (ya, I know that's not what he meant). Poor ol Republican Governor DeSantis in Florida is getting blistered with cries for statewide stay-at-home restrictions. I wouldn't bet too much money on his reelection; might have given state to Biden.

The drumbeat for statewide S-A-H restrictions in TX will only get louder. The Vice Governor of TX said on CNN today he's willing to die to reopen the economy. And by implication, he's willing for literally millions of others to die. Why do you suppose it appears the GOP governors are reluctant to impose statewide restrictions?
It also appears that in about a week, Trump wants to "reopen" the economy by lifting the stay-at-home restrictions. Remember, the Commander-in-chief in this war (he declared himself a wartime President) delegated the decisions about how states should manage their fight to state governors. Apparently, he intends to rescind, or force them to rescind restrictions. So, ultimately we may have a health crisis, an economic crisis, and a political crisis (I'll bet Cuomo will tell him to pound sand.) What say ye?

P.S. pay attention to this passage in the Miami editorial....
"The names — Matt Gaetz, Ted Deutch, Al Lawson, Michael Waltz, Gus Bilirakis, Bill Posey, Mario Diaz-Balart, Val Demings, Francis Rooney, Daniel Webster, Greg Steube, Charlie Crist, Ted Yoho, Ross Spano and John Rutherford — are worth noting."
Read about this dude in the Miami editorial and recall he was the congressman from FL who wore a gas mask on the floor of the house, apparently in attempts to be funny. He is a dominant player in the Freedom Caucus Trump "enabler" posse.

”millions to die”. That discredits just about anything you say. There are no such numbers mentioned by any Country in the World. Some of these earlier infected Countries are already ramping their economies back up. By the way it’s the States not Trump who are making these stay at home deals. So he’s not lifting them. The Governors will be and even the epicenter Governor is on board.

Brett Baier just reported that Trump's approval rating on how the Corona is being handled is 60%.

A lot of Democrats are thinking,,, “nooooo....we can’t have the stock market rally before November”

A lot of Democrats are thinking,,, “nooooo....we can’t have the stock market rally before November”

I heard multiple comments today that by placing an "economic freeze" on the country, the Democrats believe the transmission can be stopped.

Imagine what an "economic freeze" means to every employee & business owner?

Isn't this what the Democrats want, economic collapse of the private sector? This is why Pelosi & Schummer are opposing the relief bill, cause & continue economic stress by destroying private business?

How many Govt/Public sector employees are being told to stay home & lose a paycheck, how many Govt officials will be told their office is being shut down and they will lose their job? How many Govt/Public employees pensions will be damaged by this shutdown ... none!

These are the people that we place our trust in?

I don't get sick very often. This year in Mid-January I had the absolute worst illness since pneumonia some 15 years ago. It lasted a while. I ended up on antibiotics because the Dr just had no idea what else to do. Those didn't do anything really. I went back and got a second round of the same pills. I finally got better but I don't think the antibiotics had anything to do with it. I was sicker than Manson for a while. It lasted a month.
