Corn in a wagon

About how much corn do you think is in this wagon? I have no idea on sizes. I just thought one of you farmers might have a rough ballpark idea. I was just curious.

I am not a farmer. But in ear corn like that.....I doubt that you have 50 bushels of shelled corn. (? dunno for sure).

It's coming off my field and being sold by the farmer planting and picking it. He sells it to local hunters or to people for their animals. I was just wondering about how much is being produced. It looks like he's picking about a cart per week.

Quick math would be 50 bushels (?) at $7 bu = $350 / load. Best guess. Keep in mind someone has to shell this corn....but that is fairly cheap if you have the machine for it. Not sure what ear corn sells for. Likely around 1/2 or less of shelled corn?

Going on a lot of assumptions here, but guessing that is around a 100-125 bushel gravity wagon, and rough average of ear corn to shell corn is around 50%, so 50-60 bushels of shell corn there? Right there with you, Foggy!

Thought this one was a little closer in size, SD. But yeah, who know what the actual dimensions are of the wagon in question. Lots of assumptions/guesses were made in my calculating.

I know they sell husked corn on the cob in bags for deer hunters n Georgia. Might not be shelling it.

Thanks guys. This is a common practice around here it seems to plant corn to sell corn on the cob right out of the wagon. They sell it for about $6 per feed bag full or $60 for a 72 inch bucket scoop.

I have an agreement with a local farmer neighbor that he can do that out of my field by the road. It totals about 4.5 acres of corn. In exchange, he does some tractor work for me. One year, he did about a 3/4 acre food plot for me. This year he was supposed to mow some firebreak strips in my old field area. I wanted to make sure I wasn't asking too much of him.

That is a tiny little wagon. Maybe 100 bushel capacity. There is not many bushels in there being its ear corn and the price of corn SUCKS. I can get about $3.70 a bushel out of the field tomorrow morning.

I talked to a neighbor yesterday that had to sell last week at $3.58.

That wagon looks like about a 225 bushel if it had the extra top ring it would likely be about 250 bushel. I’m building a gooseneck gravity box right now mine is a 225 bushel with top ring I'm mounting it to a gooseneck made from an old GM truck frame with T150 rear axle it’s a 15,000 lb dual wheel axle. Gooseneck pull is so much nicer than a wagon. Here is the trailer still with the bed on it, my boys and I pulled the bed Saturday so it’s just the frame and axle now I’m rebuilding the bearing on one side that heated up on the way home so I knew they needed some attention. I also bought a set of semi trailer axles for a future project yesterday down in northern Arkansas.

Its not even close to a 225 bushels wagon. The guy is as tall as the wagon in the first picture. That screams puny capacity. I've loaded over 125 750 bushel boxes with the combine in the past 10 days and 1000s of small boxes like the one in the pictures above in the past. There is just not that much capacity in that little wagon.
