Got this from a friend of mine, it is a picture from his view finder. This cat was confirmed roaming our area a few months ago in Harrison County Missouri. Could not post until the game warden came out and looked at the site where the pic was taken. But we don't need his okey dokey to know what this is! First confirmed sighting in our county the GW has said! Always knew they were around, but this is our first picture of a cougar.

Every so often I hear about a sighting over here also. One lady saw one jump my fence but I don't have any trail cam pics so for now it's just Sasquatch.

Here I thought this might be one of those posts with a different type of "cougar". lol

That's a BIG kitty.

Missouri is a good place for them. Lots of deer to eat!

BA predators their boys! I'm not real excited about them migrating this direction

Yikes
I saw one in the late 90s east of Springfield mo while we were dirt bike riding at Chadwick

They don't stick around long had one on my place for a couple weeks 2 years ago.

There goes the neiborhood....Take care of him before he makes it to my place please

Now all you need are a few wolf packs and you'll all be able to experience what hunting can be like with alpha predators taking a percentage of your deer every year.

That isn't a cougar, who confirmed that? Feral cat for sure. Ears, shoulder blades, feet, tail musculature (lack) and body comp tell the story. My wife is a big cat expert BTW, been working with them for 13+ years.

I check out my buddies story, see if he is pulling out teet!

I just texted josh, our game warden to see if he was the one that confirmed it.

I was thinking the same thing, but didn't want to question the pic as it sounded like a game warden visited the site and confirmed the sighting. But based on that pic alone…I'd say little kitty cat. Everything is wrong about it. The short legs are the big give away for me.

I just sent the picture into this website. We will bypass the game warden my buddy said looked at it. http://mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/w...-lion-reports/confirmed-mountain-lion-reports

That may be a housecat or it may be a cougar. All you have to do is go back to that sight and measure that tree in the background for scale. If that tree is anywhere near 3"+ in diameter, no way in he!! is that a housecat. The base of that cats tail is as big or slightly larger than the trunk of that tree. I have personally owned 2 cats that weighted over 30lbs, one was over 40 and no way was the tail anywhere near the same size as a 3" tree trunk, I don't care what angle your taking the picture from.

I would not have a clue, but my buddy said the game warden called it a submale mountain lion. Does that make sense?

Never heard that term, maybe just another way of saying it was a young juvenile male? Which is the most likely scenario anyway, as they are the ones getting displaced and out searching for new areas to claim as their home range. Those young boys out looking for love can and will travel a loooooong way.

Just got the text back from Josh rolland the Harrison County Game Warden when I asked him if he saw this mountain lion a while back. His Words back to me:

"John, I did the other day. I can't Officially confirm it until Jefferson City confirms it, but yes, there is a mountain Lion in Brooklyn Missouri"

Mo you will know if you have one on your place. The one on my place was a killing machine. We found 3 dead deer in a short time frame. All had injuries to they skulls and back of the neck. Wolves, bears and yotes dont crush a skull in.
I never called the dnr, why? I've got nothing to gain getting them involved.

I don't have one in my area yet. This one is 25 miles from my place.
