Common buck injury?

I had two bucks show up with identical back injures. At first I though someone was a bad shot. Ive seen this same injury before and don't think its from an arrow or bullet.

Kinda thinking its an antler injury from fighting.

Thoughts?

Any fences in the area they are going under instead of over?

See that fairly common around here as well. I have heard all sorts of thoughts on what causes it, but I dont think there is any one right answer.

Never thought of a fence. Thats to advanced for my feeble mind. :D

That aint a back injury! This is a back injury! Rage induced! LOL!

They amaze me to this day. On one hand they're medium sized game and just not that hard to kill. On the other hand they're one tough critter. They can still survive with serious injuries against all odds. Imagine having that hole in your back.

The op's pics look like fence to me. Every fence crossing I have has hair attached to it. I've sat fence crossings many times and most deer will go to great efforts to keep from jumping them (even though they hop over them like it's nothing).

How the heck did that not spine him?

No Idea, but it didn't and he survived. Two months after, you could not tell he was hit hardly.

Sliding through barbed wire fences.

I remember that buck from last year.

Have you seen him this year?
