College football playoffs

NIL $$$ has altered the landscape for the foreseeable future. Top players see NFL neon signs - opt to sit out playoffs & bowl games. Can't blame them for maybe - possibly - securing their futures with NFL contracts. Portal brings mix & match, Chinese fire-drill team rosters. Biggest $$$$$$ universities will get the best players. Coaches must recruit, re-recruit .... anyone's guess as to what rosters will look like. Times have changed.
And not for the better.

Bows honestly there is no reason for any athlete to play in a useless bowl game anymore. There is nothing to gain

I can live with the layoff format, but the transfer rules and schedule are ridiculous. CFB needs to get some sanity around how many times and when players can transfer. My suggestions.

1. One free transfer without having to sit out a year. +1 free transfer if your coach gets fired or goes elsewhere, or if you're going down a level. FBS to FCS

2. You can only transfer in the winter if your team is not in the playoff, or if you redshirted on a playoff team.

3. Some sort of coaching/hiring blackout window. This helps prevent playoff season coaching changes and protects high school recruits. Ex: Michigan possibly waiting until after signing day to fire their coach.

Why are college sports even associated with universities anymore. I mean, it’s not like education is tied to it an any way.

I think many sports are, but the biggest two, Football and Men's bball, are not.

Nick saban had 97% graduation rate one year. He averaged close to 90% graduation at Alabama.

The high profile guys get all the news. But the vast majority of players at well run programs graduate. And the vast majority of them don’t play in the pros. College sports have lifted a generation of kids out of bad circumstances to a college degree.

I’ve met a lot of those “college graduates”. Thank god they were supported by the athletic program…embarrassing for these university to hand out some of those degrees

That’s a bit harsh.
