College football playoffs

For the people using bowl games to judge the strength of a conference, you need to realize that with opt outs and the transfer portal being open, bowl game results are useless indicators of conference strength.
Why? Don’t those constraints apply to everyone? What would be a better indicator?

NIL changed the game for sure. Now lots of fans feel they can directly contribute to the strength of their team with $ and are even more invested in the games.

Seems kind of crazy to me that boosters would want to spend that much money on such a thing but if it blows their hair back, good for them. My prior employer sold to a publicly traded entity while I was still there. One of the owning family members pledged $15 million to my alma maters football program shortly after. He loves football but I couldn’t help but think about all the other good that could have been done with $15M.

The constraints COULD apply to everyone but that doesn't mean they are. One team's quarterback decides to opt out while the other team's nose guard decides to opt out. Which team is at more of a disadvantage?

There isn't really a better indicator. Outside of the playoffs, bowl games are now meaningless to players. Do you really think Georgia was 60 points better than Florida State last year?

Why would anyone play in a bowl game that you could possibly get hurt and ruin your career. Especially a star going to the NFL. What do you have to gain? I will say it again bowl games will be a thing of the past soon. If strength of schedule doesn't matter to the seedings than play every division 2 school outside of your conference

Good game tonight, hopefully it comes down to the end for some late game excitement.

I forgot all about it until we were at dinner and they had ESPN on, but it was a good game. Closer than what I expected.

Our Penn State fell by a FG in the last 7 seconds to another great team. Late game pass over the middle cost us the INT. Great, competitive game. Another big one tonight.

I sure hope Texas takes it all. Anybody but osu nd or psu.

Heck of a game last night! Feel for the PSU qb after throwing that pick to seal their fate.

He probably got paid $200k to play that one game. I wouldn't feel too bad... 😂 🤣

Any player sitting out a playoff or bowl game because they are entering draft that has taken NIL $$$ or is in the portal should have to give back that years money.

I wonder what the NIL deals are? Are they by week where you need to play if fit to? Wonder if these kids are missing checks for sitting out. In that case it actually gives em some credibility IMO. Kind of like quitting a job.

Dominant 4th Q by OSU. They'll be solid favorites over the golden domers. I like the expanded playoff so far, it's been a solid improvement.

Go Bucks!

I pulled for the bucks, but do not think they dominated. Really expected TX to tie it up and see it go to OT.

OSU opens as 9.5 point favorites, that's a few points bigger than what I would have guessed. ND still lacking respect even after their impressive run through the tournament.
