Found this tree in a DNR planting full of red, white, and black oak. It’s the only oak with this leaf shape that I’ve seen on this property.

That's what it looks like to me.

I think so as well. The acorns (if it has any) will be small. Smaller than a dime type small. I have several mature trees on my place. They really like a course soil that is more upland in nature and drains well. If you don't have any or want some acorns to grow...let me know. They like to drop their acorns early on my place - before the white, bur and norther red oaks. Drop early the critters love them and the small size means many critters eat them as well.

Thanks. My sister has a mature one on her property, and I harvested acorns from it last year and planted some.

Could be chestnut oak as well. A pic of the bark or an acorn would settle it.

No acorns that I’ve seen, young tree, the planting is about 20-25 yo. I’ll be back there next week, and photograph the bark.

Another vote for Chestnut Oak here.

Chinks (like DCO) will be shorter and broader than what's depicted here, generally speaking.
