The fastest I have ever seen one produce was in about 10 years or so. I have a bunch of them naturally on my place and a neighbor converted a corn field into trees and row planted all sorts of oaks. Right on the edge is a chinkapin that has produced a few acorns now for a few years. They tend to mature and drop real early on my place - well ahead of other white, burr and northern red oaks on my place. Lots of critters eat them because of their small size - turkey can clean them up pretty quickly. I rarely have a chance to hunt over them because they fall so early (before my October 1st opener date).
