I have grown quite a few apples/crabs from seed, but this is my first try with chestnut. I usually start them early December and then plant them in May. With these I want to keep them in pots til fall. I started them in rootmaker 18's and have since moved them to 1 gallon rootmakers. Right now they are 9-11" tall. Question is will the 1 gallon rootmaker pots be big enough for the tree to live in all summer before I transplant them in the fall or do I need to get one step bigger with the pots?
