In my opinion the best thing about morels is how safe they are. I know there are false morels and such, but there really is no mistaking them for anything else. And they are delicious!!!
Took out the firepit this evening and used the rocks to further boarder the yard. Going to extend the plot to the right quite a bit and run it up to the back side of the rock line.
Are those stones quarried or cut.....or just naturally occurring in that shape? Look like petrified hay bales. I would think it's hard to move some of those.

That's just the shape they come out of the ground. I think I picked up a couple that had been cut when the nearby city redid their water system, but for 90% of them they came out of the ground in my yard. I'll post a close up pic sometime.
Got into some great crappie tonight! Lots of 10's, but quite a few 14-16 incher's! Not sure if my management efforts are paying off or if I just got lucky tonight.
Tried an experiment for making fish structures. Rebar and cinder blocks. Drill holes, slide the block over the trunk, push the rebar through the holes and stand up. Way easier than the concrete and wire methods I used to do, plus it can be assembled on a boat so easier to transport. I think it'll work.
A hacksaw?! I’m gonna start a Go Fund me and get you a grinder! Looks great! Curious, why so many sticks of rebar per tree? Would one not be enough to hold?

Tree saw to trim limbs, not a hacksaw (I used a chopsaw to cut the rebar).
I get better results with vertical cover. Since I'm also prone to getting hung up I need a good base to keep it from falling over while trying to pull a hook out of it.
I call it "the frog pond". It's dry a lot of the yr but when spring rains top it off it instantly fills with frogs. They croak, scream, screech, and make all sorts of cool sounds. The wife leaves the windows open in the evenings to listen to them. I love hearing them and am amazed at how quickly they find the water.
Kansas has 2 land turtles. Our place is on the very west edge of the brown one (3 toed turtle). As far as I can tell nobody around here even knows the 3 toe exists. I take it as a compliment to habitat management that they show up here once in a while.
