Screw the nurse marry the doctor, btw-mine will tear shingles off and help reroof a house. I just awarded her with 3 months with a personal trainer. It ran me $2k, plus
she got a good sun tan and my own personal training program as a bonus. I saved $8k on the roof.

I feel a little bad for derailing this thread. It's great that some of you have good women. They are exponentially harder to find now and to be honest, I'd rather spend my money on my hobbies and my kids than finance a woman's happiness (or some other guys kids) at this point in my life. Plus I would have to wade through hundreds of duds to find a good one and I don't have the energy. I like this freedom, I don't answer to anybody except my boss.

My original point was and is to make sure you are happy. We have been brainwashed by society to believe that it is our duty to treat every woman like a princess, cater to her every want, and do it at the detriment of our own happiness. The "if mama ain't happy, nobody's happy" line is one I used to say as well, but it's BS and you shouldn't accept that behavior from someone who is supposed to be your partner. It's just her way of manipulating your behavior through emotional blackmail, and she does it because it works. If I pout and cry and cut him off in the bedroom, he will give me what I want. It's childish behavior and if she wants to pull that crap, then treat her like a child. Spank her and send her to her room.

My wife grew up on a farm and told me she would never live in the city. Well we now live in a city with about 12,000 people and she likes it. Says she likes being able to shop 5 minutes from home. It's nice that we have a marsh next to our house so we get deer, coyotes, foxes and etc. coming through our yard. We have talked about once we have kids and they are out of school that we may buy her parents farm and build a home there. But that would be 20-30 years down the road.

I will say that I'm extremely lucky that my wife knows how to handle money. She will analyze most big purchases and look for the best deal. She got that from her dad and I thank him all the time for that. She also worked while she went to college and once college was done, was putting in 60 hours a week between 2 jobs. She didn't have to, but she was just used to working all the time so she continued to do it.

I'd be willing to bet that money issues destroy more relationships than any other single issue. I'll say this though....enjoying an early retirement all by your lonesome may not be the quite the dream you think it is. Compromise...save intelligently but also do some living today. When I was young I was much like you...pretty much a miser :oops:. I'm sure glad I learned to do some living and spend some of the hard earned money my late wife and I made before she passed...if I hadn't I'd still be kicking myself in the a$$ today.

I would rank that right up with being able to satisfy both parties needs in the bedroom! Most guys and gals that only get it once a year from the spouse, usually find it other times of the year from someone else! I have seen that end more marriages than almost anything!;)

Couple things the old man told me before he died was, look at your future wife's old lady, on how she acts at her age and how she looks. If she is a ugly bitch that don't put out........run screaming into the brush and get away fast!

This thread proves that theory about "opinions" for sure! An it has reinforced the fact that I got a damn good woman. Several of you have clearly picked the wrong ones! Start woman shopping at the hospitals. Nurses know what hard work is an ain't scared to get their hands dirty! My wife's so tight she squeaks when she walks! Financially that is! Get your head out of the gutter! It's all give an take though mine can't cook worth a crap! She would move to north mo an start learning how to farm from the mobuckchaser tomorrow but I can't walk away from the career I have established here. Stl county is in the top 10% of highest paid emergency responce services. Up north is primarily volunteer fire! That ain't gonna work! So we plan to move just on the outside of suburbia an get away to the farm any chance we can

My advice would be to do what makes YOU happy and let her decide if she wants to be a part of it or not. It sounds harsh but the reality is most women's loyalty/faithfulness is wholly dependent on what and how much you are doing for them. Your happiness is background noise and incidental. Better to find out as early as possible where that line in the sand is. Tell her you're moving up north as soon as the kids graduate and that's the end of the discussion. You will find out fairly quickly how important you and your happiness is to her.

Men and women both have been programmed by Disney, Hallmark, Lifetime Network, etc. to the point where we believe a woman's happiness is the only thing that's important, and a man's job is to work until he dies to finance that happiness while she gains 100 pounds and has sex with him once a year on his birthday. Provided he spent his birthday completing her honey-do list. Why should your happiness take a back seat to hers? Or anybody's? You get one ticket to the show and there's no refunds.

Bruce Jenner's a perfect example. The man spent 30 years being bullied (I'm sure he thought he was making them happy) by his wife and daughters, he's so completely emasculated/emotionally castrated now that he actually identifies as a female. Most guys in Bruce's shoes just drink a lot, being an Olympian Bruce is taking it to a higher level.

Funny, my wife and I have had recent discussions about this same thing. We live in the Fox Valley, hardly a "big" town, and have a cottage and land about 1 hour away. I always figured we'd just stay in the Fox Valley and travel wherever we wanted in the winter etc. My Wife informed me that our primary place of residence will be in the southwest/west, period. I met her in Phoenix, and have lived all over out west and love it there. I told her that's fine, as long as we can live in a rural area , which she agreed to. So live at the cottage from spring through deer hunting, and live out west (I already have the spot picked in southeastern Nevada), the rest of the year. Now if didn't have wait 10 years !
If you both agree you want to move, you can find somewhere you'll both enjoy.

You guys may as well give up looking for the best woman out there. I married her many years ago. ;)

Wy wife grew up on a dairy farm. Walked beans with a hoe until she fell over from the heat.....then would lay in the "bean row shade" to recover, until her parents would get her up on the next round. Those farm girls are tough......mine can out-work me all day long. (I'm into short-cuts, machines, and easy methods. :D)

Edit: Mine was/ is a Registered Nurse, can sew anything, cooks, paints, cleans, and helps me put in the dock. Cute and 120 lbs soaking wet. What a girl!

Tom-I don't think you need to look for a model with more horsepower or added weight in the rear tires for ballast.
