Arrowhead and other historic/pre-historic collections

More success on the prairie. Chris got 1 of his best points. I followed it up with my biggest heart breaker, and probably my only chance ever at a dovetail. Henry rounded it out with a really sharp tip. Same field as the turtle back up above, but a different spot in the field that I only discovered last yr.

I really need to start walking our fields more....

Congrats on the finds! The coloring on that complete point (Grand?) is awesome!

Thanks, Hoyt. We hadn't thought of Grand yet. Thanks for the suggestion. Washed mine to see what material it is. Looks like Burlington. Would've been a monster 5-6 incher.

Congrats on all the great finds Mort.

Our season is winding down. Toby was walking around the field with this in his hand the other day. Chris walked up to him and said "Toby you have something good in your hand!" Lol apparently he must've decided it was interesting enough to pick up but not noteworthy enough to share with people. It's nice material. Probably a preform or scraper I guess.

Geez Cat those are really nice, including your coaster. We seem to find a few of those uniface artifacts also. And they can often be very well made. I picture an ancient knapper at work, and sees I giant flake come flying off, and smiles knowing he only has to sharpen up 1 side to get a functional tool.

We picked up something similar last night. I think we discovered a new micro spot to check in the future. It's too far broken to ID.

I always wonder what they were thinking when they made certain tools. I've personally welded up many custom tools to do a one off job, then watched them collect dust to never be used again. Like you said... I've often wondered if it was a tool of ease or opportunity.

The coasters are cool. I did that race for about 10yrs. Always the same coasters given out at the finish line. It's a map of the course. It's funny... at the time is was running marathons between 2:43 to 3:07. But add 5 miles and put on trails and all of a sudden I'm out there for 4hrs.

Guessing by the shape of that map there's a few ups and downs on that course. How many marathons have your ran? Everytime I think i should run a race i stop and think about how I like my knees feeling nice.

I don't know how many I did. 2-3 a year, including the ultra's. Wish I'd done some of the big ones like Boston or Chicago, but never did. Stayed mostly in KS, OK, and TX for the long races. Interestingly all my running friends and I have great knees. I am however fighting some lower back pain.

Should have come over and ran ultra by my farm a few weeks ago.Winner ran 91 miles in 22 hours. My cousins wife has ran alot of the big ones which are even tough to get in,either have to qualify or get drawn

Didnt even know there was one local! Wouldn't have mattered though, I spend most of my weekends chasing the youngest's basketball tournament.

I qualified for all the big ones. Even had invites to some of them like Big Sur in CA. Just didn't chase them down. Looking back I wish I would have, but I was hunting/fishing/working... and cheap.

I've mentioned this a few times before, but we have much more trespassing by people arrowhead hunting than anything else. This shitcricker visited 3 times in 3 weeks this spring. Fortunately, local law enforcement is taking these things a little more seriously than they have in the past.

And they act like “what’s the big deal I’m just arrowhead hunting”.

My wife saw a company truck parked at the neighbors 3 times this week (during normal business hours). He doesn't let ANYONE arrowhead hunt except us. They were walking around in his field. I'm inclined to send pics to the employer of what he's paying his help for.

In the video clip one of the guys says something about not getting caught. I'm assuming he was talking about trespassing.

Since March, we have had 4 different people trespassing on camera, all of which were walking the creeks looking for arrowheads.

Any luck busting them yet? Do you know who he is?
