One of the apples we have tried and have found that will fruit thru any harsh winters is Prairie Magic developed in Alberta , I think grafted to a larger root would be close to fool proof , late ripening , late bloom to miss spring frost , late ripening so would be prime late fall , We haven't let any hang late to know a drop time but would assume late also as its a firm apple .
