Apple tree issue - bark splitting

My foresters guess was severe temp changes, but some of the splitting is on this springs scionwood growth and although we had one of our most severe winters last year this spring was pretty typical. So in my case at least I guess the mystery continues. The good news is so far the branches seem to be growing in a healthy manner.

Greyphase we are seemingly in the exact same boat. I havent gotten any info. to contradict what we have already posted.
