Anyone started hunting?

I won't be getting out until mid-october. Cameras have been slow but that's not the reason.

A lot of activity around me. Been too hot to even think about it yet. I did pull the camo out and hung it outside though... Does that count for anything??

Haven't been out, but the last 2 cooler mornings have given me the itch...

I would be, but I don't have a decent daylight pattern on one I really want yet. I'm going out occasionally with my bow but not going to my prime spots, because I don't want to burn them out before the right time comes. It's so hot and our deer have so many different things to eat right now they aren't on their feet very much.

I went yesterday morning for just a short while. Weather cooled off significantly so played the odds that the weather might get something moving in daylight…… it was slooooow. Just a doe and a yearling. Last night the camera showed a decent buck walk by this same blind with enough light left that I could have shot him. I need to see him in person though. He is borderline for the hit list. He is pretty regular on my place lately, but 98% in the dark. I have had a random picture of a buck or 2 that is better so not in a hurry to let an arrow go.

I was out once, saw 8 deer (6 does/fawns) and 2 small bucks in Minnesota. Had a couple doe close, thought about venison in the freezer. Passed, maybe this weekend!

I hunted twice with my daughter trying to get her first deer. She was using a crossbow and we had a target buck come out of funnel at 80 yards and took the wrong trail. If she would have had a rifle, that would have been a beautiful first deer.

No, it's not. We had a young 7 point that came out first. She never batted an eye because she had her sights set on one of the older bucks. I told her she could shoot whatever. She sees them on camera, so she knows what she wants. When the bigger one came out, she grabbed that crossbow like she was an old hat. She was very excited with that one. She had a chance last year, but decided at the last minute she didn't want to hunt for some reason. It's a different story this year.

Our season opened this weekend. Son brought two of his daughters down. First morning the youngest at 6 decided she wasnt ready to kill one yet with 12 does and fawns standing within range of a crossbow. Son and other daughter hunted hard. They did see one of the target bucks but couldnt get a shot. She passed 11 other bucks and several does. I hunted a couple times and saw eight bucks one afternoon - but not the one I wanted. Bucks still grouped up here. 90 degrees here

Hell I thought this past Saturday was our opener but it's this coming Saturday. Fine with me though I wasn't ready anyway.
