Any experience using Dr Craig Harpers cocktail in freezing weather.

BC Buck

5 year old buck +
For years been using Remedy, diesel. Not 100% guarantee on hickory kills and poor results on black locust. Been reading how great Harpers mix works. With generic herbicides prices though would try this winter. Have herbicides sitting here ready to go and had a O crap thought. Will this mix spray at below freezing temps being 40% water. Thinking could add small quantity of green antifreeze. Temps could range between 5 and 32 degrees.

For hack and squirt? Will things be flowing enough inside the tree to work well?

We've killed buckthorn DEAD with the garlon/diesel 1:3 mix down to 0 degrees on cut - stump treat. Never tried the Harper cocktail though. I'm sure he has some literature on the efficacy of his cocktail, unfortunately all of his stuff I have saved is on my desktop at work or I'd gloss it over.

You may try a search here for his TSI documents, amd its likely there is something in there about ambient temp applications.

Think I'd stick with something diesel based. I've used the green picloram based gallon stuff in the winter at home on vines. Worked well.

I've girdled large trees with a 5/8th paddle bit with 3:1 diesel n triclopyr with good results. Did a few maples the year before with the green stuff. Didn't kill the tree, set it back a good bit though.
